- getting tired quickly,
- fainting or near-syncope,

When is it worth doing an ECG test?
An ECG is one of the basic methods for assessing heart function. It records the electrical activity of the heart muscle and detects many abnormalities related to its functioning.
Your doctor may recommend an ECG test if, among other things:
- suspected heart rhythm disturbances,
- recurrent heart palpitations,
- chest pain,
- dizziness,
- fainting,
- shortness of breath of unknown origin,
- control of previously diagnosed heart diseases.

Who is at increased risk?
Although heart rhythm disorders can occur in people of all ages, there are groups of patients who are particularly at risk of developing them.

- after the age of 50,

- with diagnosed coronary artery disease,
- after a heart attack,
- with heart failure,
- smoking cigarettes,
- leading a sedentary lifestyle,
- struggling with obesity.
Additional risk factors may include chronic stress, electrolyte deficiencies, excessive alcohol consumption and certain medications.

Will a regular ECG always detect arrhythmia?
Not always.

If symptoms occur sporadically, the recording may be completely normal despite the presence of arrhythmia.

Holter ECG – when is it needed?
Holter ECG enables continuous recording of the heart's electrical activity for 24 hours, 48 hours or even several days.
This allows for the detection of rhythm disturbances that only occur periodically. The test is often performed in patients reporting:

- unexplained fainting,
- dizziness,
- episodes of weakness,
- suspected atrial fibrillation.
During monitoring, the patient performs daily activities, which allows for the assessment of heart function in natural conditions.
