Why are dentists increasingly considering equipping their offices with AEDs?
Firstly, due to increasing public awareness of the benefits of AED use. And, consequently, of the consequences of not having an AED. We have already written about the increasing circulatory problems faced by Polish society. AEDs save lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. However, if we don't act quickly enough (4 minutes), we won't save the life of a heart attack victim. Therefore, the proximity of an AED can save lives.
Secondly, a dental office with an AED signifies a higher standard of patient care. This signals that the dentist cares about more than just the patient's healthy smile. In today's highly competitive dental care market, this is a valuable asset for the facility. Moreover, the presence of an AED in a dental office can prove beneficial not only for the office's patients, but also for the facility's staff.
Third, more and more countries are requiring AEDs to be placed in dental offices where patients undergo general anesthesia or deep sedation.
